Dall' idol mio lontan dirgli il mio duolo,
Con voi portate à volo
Nel sen di Lidio i miei sospiri ardenti.
Ma nò, fermate o venti,
Temo che le mie fiamme
Stemprino il vostro gelo,
E ch'infocato il cielo
Dall'ardor mio profondo
Partorir possa un novo incendio al mondo.
Il mio cor che sta lontano
Dalla sfera del suo foco,
Mai non posa e cerca invano
Trovar quiete* in nessun loco.
È follia che lontananza
Sani mai le piaghe al core,

Sweet breezes, since I cannot
tell my far off idol of my suffering,
